Paula Owen of Summerhill House Orphanage writes: The power of community can never be under-estimated and this has shown true these past months.
Whilst in their own desperate fight to keep business alive, Ray’s Kitchen provided takeaway meals and pledged R5 from every meal to us at Summerhill House.
From this initiative we received a whopping R5 370!
This money went toward our “community in crisis” feeding programme with which we have managed to strategically distribute 1 043 Covid-crisis food parcels as well as 428 frozen soup and bread hampers to our children.
It also ensured that we could sustain running costs and continue providing care for our 10 precious babies in our 2 homes. Phew! What would we do without a community of “family” like we have in this area.
We would like to say a huge thank you from one growing family at Summerhill to Ray, Paul and Billy.
It is so exciting to see the restaurants literally coming back to life. Let us give them all our full support!
